Dr James McKinney

General Practitioner

Dr McKinney grew up in Queanbeyan, immediately next to the ACT. He graduated from the Australian National University in 2008 (Medical Science) and 2012 (Medicine & Surgery) respectively. Dr McKinney did his internship and residency at Wollongong Hospital to escape the bitterly cold Canberra winter. He has worked in numerous public and private hospitals including the Royal North Shore, Shoalhaven District Hospital and Gosford Hospital to name a few.

Dr McKinney has previous experience working in Medical/Radiation Oncology and Palliative Medicine. Before leaving the hospital system he completed a Diploma in Palliative Medicine awarded by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2018. He enjoys all aspects of general practice with special interests in skin cancer management, autoimmune disorders, gastrointestinal health, chronic health disorders, paediatrics, mental health and palliative medicine.

Outside of medicine Dr McKinney plays and follows a number of sports including cricket, basketball and rugby league to name a few (Go Raiders!). He enjoys traveling, hiking and summiting mountains during his spare time. To date, he has summited Mt Kosciuszko (Australia), Mt Kilimanjaro (Tanzania) and Mt Aconcagua (Argentina) and would like to one day eventually complete all of the “Seven Summits”

Dr James McKinney works Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
